A five-member delegation from the Tornadoes Swim Club leaves the island today to compete in the annual NSU Davie Nadadores Invitational Long Course swim meet. The two-day competition, hosted jointly by the Nova Southeastern University and the Davie Nadadores Swim Club, will be held at the Nova Southeastern University Aquatics Centre, Davie, Florida, today and tomorrow.

This is the first in a series of overseas meets for the club as it seeks to expose its members to international competitions. The meet is also being used to prepare swimmers in their quest for qualification for selection as national representatives on Jamaica's team for competitions in 2011.

The group, headed by national senior swimmers Timothy Wynter and Priscilla McClure, also include Alexandra Beckford, D'Agaenae Clarke and Miguel Teape. Wynter and McClure have been seeded second in the 200 metres backstroke and 50 metres breaststroke events, respectively, while for the other members, this is their first international competition at the senior level.

Head coach Jacky Walter will accompany the team. The team returns to the island on Sunday. Results will be available on www.davienadadores.com.
