Hornets snap Heat's nine-game run
NEW ORLEANS (AP):
Emeka Okafor had 18 points and 14 rebounds, and the New Orleans Hornets held off Orlando 92-89 in overtime on Wednesday night, snapping the Magic's nine-game winning streak.
Marcus Thornton capped a 22-point performance with a crucial jumper and two free throws in the final minute of the extra period as the Hornets took lead for good and won their second straight. Chris Paul had 12 points and 13 assists and David West had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Dwight Howard had 29 points and 20 rebounds, but missed a pair of free throws that could have given Orlando a one-point lead with 11 seconds to go. Jason Richardson added 21 points, hitting five 3-pointers, including a pair in the final minute to help Orlando erase a seven-point deficit in the final minute of regulation and force overtime.
Trevor Ariza finished with 16 points for New Orleans, and Orlando's Ryan Anderson had 14 points, hitting four 3-pointers.
Clippers 111 Heat 105
LOS ANGELES (AP):
Blake Griffin had 24 points and 14 rebounds for his 30th double-double, and the Los Angeles Clippers ended Miami's 13-game road winning streak.
Eric Gordon added 26 points and Baron Davis had 20 points and nine assists for the Clippers, who led virtually the entire game against the NBA's second-best team. It was just the 13th win of the season for Los Angeles.
Dwyane Wade scored 31 points, LeBron James added 27 and Chris Bosh had 26 points and 13 rebounds for the Heat, who had also won nine in a row overall.
A three-point play by James and a 3-pointer by Bosh got the Heat within four, but Gordon calmly made two free throws to seal the win.
Los Angeles won its third in a row and eighth in its last 11, while notching its 10th home win nearly halfway through the season.
Lakers 115 Warriors 110
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP):
Kobe Bryant scored 17 of his 39 points in the final 5:49 and the sluggish Los Angeles Lakers rallied late to beat Golden State for their sixth straight victory.
Bryant also assisted on Ron Artest's crucial 3-pointer with 1:55 to play. Lamar Odom did his part to fuel the comeback, scoring 10 straight points during a key fourth-quarter stretch on the way to 20 points and nine rebounds.
Pau Gasol added 24 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers, who looked uncharacteristically out of sync for much of the game before turning it on when it mattered for their 12th consecutive win over the Warriors and sixth straight in Oakland.
Golden State's Monta Ellis scored 38 for his 10th 30-point game of the season after missing the two previous days of practice with the flu. But the Warriors couldn't hold an early 14-point lead against the defending NBA champions.
Thunder 118 Rockets 112
HOUSTON (AP):
Kevin Durant scored 30 points, Russell Westbrook added 23 points and 13 assists, and Oklahoma City snapped the franchise's 11-game losing streak in Houston.
Thabo Sefolosha grabbed 13 rebounds, and Serge Ibaka and Jeff Green added 16 points apiece for the Thunder. The franchise won in Houston for the first time since Feb. 22, 2005, when the team was still the Seattle SuperSonics.
Luis Scola scored 31 points, but none in the fourth quarter, for Houston. The Rockets played without leading scorer Kevin Martin (sore right wrist) and backup center Brad Miller (sore left knee) for the second straight game.
Houston scored a season-high 70 points in the paint, but went 5 for 18 from 3-point range.
