All-Island Carnival has announced that Bajan soca star Lil Rick will be the feature act when the 10-event series kicks off at the UDC Field in New Kingston on January 29.

Calling the event 'Soca Junkies', Lil Rick joins a bevy of other acts set to entertain the thousands of patrons expected to attend the highly anticipated event. Soca kingpin and stalwart Oscar B alongside dancehall stars Aidonia, Elephant Man and Tanto Blacks are also set to grace the stage at Soca Junkies.

The event doesn't only feature live performance, according to Tristar Entertainment - organisers of the event, but will also feature top disc jocks spinning tunes for patrons.

Confirmed for this are 'the Party Animal' Kurt Riley, ZJ Sparks, Renaissance, and Kenwin Razor out of the twin-island republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

From the moment he enters the stage, fans watch in awe as Lil Rick commands screaming crowds to attempt his well-choreographed movements. Lil Rick has been making waists gyrate across the region since 1997 when he made his entrance on to the soca scene with Bumper Inspector and Hard Wine.

Since then, he's been releasing hit after hit and has also been racking up awards and titles throughout his career.

In 1998, he won the Party Monarch Title with Down Behind the Truck, in 2002 and in 2003, he won both the Party Monarch and Road March titles with hit singles Hypa Dawg and Mash Up & Buy Back respectively.

Crop Over 2007 earned Lil Rick his fourth Party Monarch title with his infectious track Caan Wait.

In the same stead, Tristar Entertainment also announced that LIME has signed on to be title sponsor of the event.

"We're very pleased to welcome LIME on board and even more so as our title sponsor. We're definitely looking forward to an incredible partnership as we move forward," Tristar Entertainment director Marvin Lawrence said.

LIME's Tara Playfair-Scott echoed Lawrence's sentiments about the partnership, saying that LIME was ready and raring for the All-Island Carnival to start.

"LIME is partnering with this event simply because we believe in the vision of it and what it represents. The All-Island Carnival will present one of the biggest carnival happenings of the entire season, and it's only natural that we would be on board," Playfair-Scott said.

Playfair-Scott, who is head of events and promotions at LIME, also promised that her company would be activating the event in true "LIME style".

The tickets will be sold at Cuddy'z, Xtraz Manor Park, Xtraz Mall Plaza, LG Service Station and Scotchies at a pre-sale cost of $1,200 and $3,000 for VIP. Persons who purchase tickets at the gate will pay $1,500.
