Petite reality TV Series goes to screen in January
Pulse Model Management is set to launch the newest addition to its suite of TV titles when it premieres the Petite edition of the Caribbean Model Search reality series on CVM TV at the end of the month.
A highly successful Caribbean Model Search (CMS) Live show, which featured international recording star Shontelle, last summer, spawned a strong and excited group of contestants who were eager to take their chances in the new TV show.
The same formula as the original CMS Jamaica and International series will be adopted as the petites go up against each other in tests and challenges to determine who will take the historic, first title.
After the early rounds of competition, the finalists will encounter the inevitable elimination rounds and face a judging panel which will include Pulse CEO Kingsley Cooper, social scribe Chester Francis-Jackson and Pulse general manager Romae Gordon.
The show will also feature guest judges such as rising Pulse actress (Pirates of the Caribbean) and former CMS petite winner, Sanya Hughes and other fashion and modelling-industry professionals.
The Caribbean Model search has launched the careers of numerous models including Jaunel McKenzie who became the number one black model in the world. Nell Robinson, Carla Campbell, Sunna Gottshalk, Nicole Grey, Gaye McDonald are among several others who have been discovered and developed through this event. In more recent years, Jeneil Williams and Sedene Blake have elevated the significance of the search to new heights, as they are now the two leading black models in the world. Between them, they have scored covers for Vogue, i-D, LOVE, French and the Wall Street Journal.
With the advent of the new tv title, Pulse is now looking to expand the scope of opportunity for talented petite models.
success
Although the TV show for this category of models is a first, Pulse has already enjoyed a significant level of success with a number of petite models who have participated in the annual CMS Live event which is held every summer.
Shani McGraham was the first petite winner to work internationally when she played a lead role in Mariah Carey's Butterfly video which was shot in Spain.
However, the most successful petite model from the Caribbean is Sanya Hughes who has modelled successfully in the international market and who recently broke new ground when she landed a role in the Hollywood blockbuster, Pirates of the Caribbean, On Stranger Tides.
Caribbean Model Search Petite will premiere on CVM TV, January 29 at 10 p.m.
The CMS TV Reality series is sponsored by CVM TV, The Gleaner, Eye Q Optical and Samurai Investments.
