They wowed America with their smooth vocals and melodic harmonies to win NBC's reality show 'The Sing Off' and come Saturday, January 29, patrons of the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival will experience the thrilling sounds of Committed.

In celebration of the Jamaica Jazz and Blues' 15th anniversary, Committed will perform a tribute that will encompass a wide selection of songs from acts that have graced the Jazz Festival stage in the past.

The multi-talented group is expected to fascinate audience members attending the event scheduled from January 27 to January 29 at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium.

The event will also feature highly rated acts Maroon 5, Ron Isley, Alison Hinds, Diana King, Regina Belle, SWV, Brenda Russell, Natalie Cole and many more.

Committed is the product of six young men bonded by their devotion to the creation of music and worship of God. Maurice Staple, Theron 'Therry' Thomas, Robbie Pressley, Dennis 'DJ' Baptiste, Alain 'Tommy' Gervais and Greston Pierre are the musical geniuses behind the group's impressive sound.

The men formed the group in 2003 while they were still at Oakwood College in Alabama.

They quickly gained popularity in North Alabama while performing at several events locally and also at a number of venues across the country. Their work finally paid off when they were given the opportunity to compete on NBC's 'The Sing-Off' which showcased their undeniable talent.

They made use of the opportunity the competition presented and over its short duration performed songs from Maroon 5, Michael Jackson, The Police and Usher. Their renditions received enormous accolades from the panel of judges, audience members and viewers of the programme.

Group's success

The combination of perfectly harmonised vocals and powerful performances eventually led to the group's success.

More than one million viewers in the United States voted for them.

They have continued work on their debut album which is set to be released in the spring of this year by Sony Music. They have developed a sizeable fan base which has generated more than 20,000 active users on Facebook. While their roots are strongly planted in gospel, they are not opposed to creating an album that explores a variety of genres. They have also expressed an interest in doing a few collaborations with other artistes.

When the group Committed was contacted and asked, what can the Jamaican audience expect from them for their performance at the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, member of the group Maurice Staple had this to say: "We are bringing great harmonies and booming baselines for your listening pleasures." Patrons can expect a solid performance fuelled by each member's passion for music and unequivocal talent.
