Redlinerz donates to boys' home

Car club Team Redlinerz recently made a donation of some much-needed items to the Alpha Boys' Home.

The team of young professionals had made a commitment to make charitiable donations to one children's home per year; and in keeping with this social responsibility, the Alpha Boys Home was the children's home of choice for 2011.

It was while having discussions with Sister Mary Jane of the home that the club learnt of the continuous need that the boys had for clothing, footwear and toiletries.

"Having learnt this, we sought the assistance of the National Commercial Bank and SHHH Boutique. They both obliged and donated a number of school equipment and clothing, respectively," said Joseph Montaque, marketing director of Team Redlinerz. "In addition to that, we pooled together as a club and bought other items for the boys."

The Alpha Boys' Home has been in existence for over 100 years, and houses more than 70 boys between the ages of seven and 18 years old through the Child Development Agency. With that in mind, the club ventured to the South Camp Road-based home in their convoy of vehicles, to provide mild motorsport entertainment for the boys.

"We wanted to make the presentation before Christmas, however, an overseas Redlinerz member had shipped some items from the US that did not arrive in time. But, in the end, it turned out out well. We were honoured to be able to use our cars as a means of entertainment for the boys, as well as donating the supplies for them," said Simone James-Bedward, the club's secretary. " We hope that our donation will add some inspiration to their goals."
