Future Fambo looks set to continue his renewed popularity with the official release of the Mavado-laced remix to his club banger This Life. Produced by talented Notice Productions, This Life is the follow-up single to Fambo's smash hit Rum and Red Bull, featuring Beenie Man. This Life, also featuring Notice Production's Unga, was released in the last quarter of 2010 and instantly became a hit via Kingston's famed nightly club scene.

"I love the beat and the hook and my verse (which opens the record) just flowed in the studio." The This Life remix already has over 50,000 YouTube views and is gaining popularity in the United States and United Kingdom. It was released on iTunes on Tuesday.
Mavado also has several new releases coming over the next few weeks, including a much-talked-about self-produced single called Delilah and the recently premiered Tump, produced by Stephen McGregor.

Kesha sued for contract breach
Kesha is being sued by her former managers for US$14 million. The singer signed with DAS Communications in 2006 and in September 2008 left to work with producer Dr Luke. Now, DAS has filed a lawsuit for breach of contract, claiming Kesha had initially agreed to give them 20 per cent of her future income, with the option to sever the business if she did not land a major label record contract within a year.
Although
she failed to pick up a deal within those 12 months, DAS insists they
continued a good relationship with Kesha until she met Dr Luke, who
allegedly "induced, intimidated and convinced Kesha" to cut ties with
them. The legal papers added: "Although she has made an incredible
amount of money in a very short period of time, in large part due to
DAS's efforts on her behalf, she could just as easily lose money if not
properly guided."
Bad influence
Ken Freundlich - who is representing DAS - said: "DAS was Kesha's manager since the beginning of 2006 and there was a
written agreement and they
worked closely, and some time
in September 2008, Dr Luke, for his own personal gain, somehow induced her to breach that contract.
"And
she unceremoniously
terminated DAS without justification and then ended up with Luke,
basically. We're going to have our day in court and we're going to prove
that Dr Luke induced her to breach the contract. She had no right to do
so and we're going get damages from her."
Kesha's
lawyer, Charles Ortner, said, "This lawsuit seeks to require her to pay
DAS head David Sonenberg commissions on her RCA/Jive record deal that
he had nothing to do with, long after she terminated him in writing."
'3D' happy with
directing nods
Dexter
'3D' Pottinger is anticipating the upcoming Youth View Awards, to be
held at the National Indoor Sports Centre on February 5, especially
since this is the first time he has received a nod for directing.
Pottinger is known as the Jamaican model-turned-designer-turned-make-up
artiste and stylist. Lately,
he has flipped the script by adding director to his already extensive
list of credentials.
Pottinger
ventured into the business directing videos for girl group Make Boys
Cry in 2005. Since then, he has been honing his craft, adding the flair
he believes has been absent from the music video scene by not only
highlighting the artiste, but also the clothes and accessories.
His execution has allowed two of his music videos for 2010, Move Yuh Body and Certified Diva, to be nominated for video of the year. He has styled on the music video Find Your Love
for Canadian rapper Drake. As a director, he is proud to have worked
with Jamaican stars such as Bad Gyal Ce'Cile, Tifa, Etana, Angel, and
Russell Diamond.
Nas, taxman
'Distant Relatives'?
Nas
reportedly owes over US$6 million in unpaid taxes. The rapper is said
to have three outstanding liens against him, one from October 2009 for
US$2,584,236 and another from February 2010 for US$3,365,671, while the
latest one for US$514,298 was filed earlier this month. According to Detroit News newspaper, Nas also owes US$3,860 in fees on his New York apartment.
Nas
has been experiencing financial problems for a while, and last year he
had to sign a payment plan to cover ex-wife Kelis' mortgage. The
hitmaker - who has an 18-month-old son, Knight, with Kelis - had fallen
behind on payments, so had to shell out double what he was originally
ordered to pay to make up for the money owed.
Nas
(real name Nasir Jones) was said to be in US$300,000 debt to the singer
and it was believed that US$52,989.22 of the outstanding monies related
to the mortgage. He was ordered to pay US$14,229.61 a month until he
brought the arrears up to date.
As
well as having to pay her mortgage, Nas was also ordered to pay Kelis
US$50,000 a month in spousal and child support, but because of his money
problems a judge recently slashed it to US$25,000 a month.
The
couple legally split last May, although they called time on their
marriage in April 2009, while Kelis was pregnant with Knight. The singer
cited irreconcilable diffe-rences as the reason behind their divorce,
although no exact cause for the split has ever been given.
