DIAMOND League 400 metres hurdles champion Kaliese Spencer was the star at yesterday's Queens/Grace Jackson Invitational meet at the University of the West Indies' Usain Bolt Stadium, as she produced an outstanding run to capture the women's open 800 metres in 2:08.77.

Competing for the Stephen Francis-coached MVP Track Club, Spencer showed supreme confidence to outclass her rivals. After taking the lead at the first 150 metres, she kept moving away from the field to score a commanding win ahead of training partners Stephanie McPherson (2:11.73) and Olympian Christine Day (2:11.94).

The race also included Olympic and World Championships 400 metres hurdles gold medallist Melaine Walker, and Olympic and World Championships 400m silver medallist Shericka Williams. Walker and Williams finished fourth and eighth, respectively, in 2:11.96 and 2:20.08.
