August Town maintain pressure

August Town kept up the pressure on leaders and defending champions Cavalier, in the race to win this year's Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA)/ Claro Super League title, with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Constant Spring at the University of the West (UWI) Bowl on Saturday.

Aphas Bernard (13th), Gee Daley (46th) and Ricardo Munroe (72nd) were the goalscorers for August Town, who were demoted from top-flight football last season.

Nigel Reid scored the consolation goal for Constant Spring in the 77th minute.

In lieu of their win, August Town (36) remained a point behind Cavalier (37), who registered an exciting 2-1 win over Mountain View United at Collie Smith Drive.

Patrick Edmonson scored both goals for Cavalier in the 27th and 30th minutes. Ricardo Reid scored the consolation for Mountain View United (16) in the 55th.

In the day's other fixtures, third-place UWI (31), led by a hat-trick from Anthony Grant, thrashed Santos (25) 4-0 at the Bell Chung Oval.

Grant scored his goals in the 39th, 78th and 79th minutes. Kemar Cummings scored the fourth goal for the Neville 'Bertis' Bell-coached UWI, in the 90th minute.

Rae Town (23), led by a 90th-minute goal from Mario McDonald, edged bottom-place Duhaney Park (10) 1-0 at Breezy Castle; while a 65th strike from Deno Schaffe carried Barbican (18) to a 1-0 victory over Bull Bay (15) at the Barbican playing field.

In another game, Real Mona (15) and Rockfort (26) played to an exciting 2-2 draw at Buttercup Park.

Carl Reid (37th) and Alfred Nelson (48th) were the goalscorers for the Peter Moses-coached Real Mona. Odaine Lawrence (17th) and former national striker, Onandi Lowe (90th), were the scorers for Bull Bay.
