PM Thomas vows to protect country's safety record
St George's (CMC):
Prime Minister Tillman Thomas has vowed to place special emphasis on strength-ening law enforcement to main-tain Grenada's reputation as one of the safest tourism destinations in the region.
The prime minister, in his capacity as minister for national security, hosted a meeting with the hierarchy of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) and his national security team to discuss plans for improving the national security arrangements.
Security important
"The development of our country, improvements in our economy and the stability of Grenada depend on the maintenance of a secure environment," Thomas said.
The Grenadian leader told the senior management of the RGPF that his administration would continue to seek the assistance of friendly governments to provide the force with the tools necessary to deliver its services throughout the country.
"It is widely accepted that we are among the safest destinations in the Caribbean. We must work together to maintain and protect that reputation," Thomas said.
