Below are comments from readers of www.jamaica-gleaner.com regarding yesterday's lead story, 'Give me another Christie'.

hollow compliment

The PM yearns for someone of Mr Christie's mettle to be the country's special prosecutor, but what is the use if he or she is ignored the way Mr Christie is? Imagine the OCG has concerns over the Sandals Whitehouse negotiations now taking place, a sweetheart deal if I ever saw one, and the PM totally dismisses the concerns of Mr Christie's office.

What does that tell you about the prime minister wanting to see someone of the Mr Christie's mettle?

- Dranks

Well done, Mr Christie

This man is outstanding in doing his job. We need people like him in government. The prime minister refers to Mr Greg Christie as getting on people's nerves. This tells you that he is doing job. When you stand for principle in our society, you are not likeable.

Golding unbelievable

After snubbing Mr Christie, is this the way the PM is trying to appease him - by making such a comment? Are you sure you can cooperate with someone who has a backbone like the CG? Based on the PM's demeanour, I don't think so. The CG is too transparent for you. Word of advice - be careful what you wish for.

- Be Careful

Don't be fooled

For once, I would love to trust the word of Prime Minister Bruce Golding. He has lambasted Mr Christie for his work at the OCG, and now he has praised him. Is this new-found love for the work of the contractor general so Machiavellian to have Mr Christie go easy on the latest questionable Sandals Whitehouse deal? Mr Christie will not fall for such a ruse from a leader so duplicitous.

Possible nightmare

Mr PM, be very careful what you ask for - it may very well become your worst nightmare! But, then again, chances are you probably won't be around if this is implemented.

Nothing but lip service

This remark by the prime minister regarding Mr Christie is so disingenuous that he should have choked on it. It was lip service and nothing else. Mr Christie, in my opinion, should have been prime minister, ombudsman, police commissioner, DPP, attorney general and head of the BOJ, all in one. May God's blessing be with Mr Christie always.
