Awards function now Feb 15

The XXII None Such/Horse of the Year Awards function has been pushed back to Tuesday, February 15 at the Courtleigh Auditorium, 6 St Lucia Avenue, New Kingston, starting at 7 p.m.

It was originally scheduled for Thursday, February 10 at the Carib Cineplex, Cross Roads.

A feature of the awards function will be the showing of the highly acclaimed motion picture, Secretariat, which was released late last year in the United States.

The movie, which depicts the life and times of the 1973 American Triple Crown winner who was popularly called 'Big Red', stars Diane Lane as Secretariat's owner and John Malkovich as his trainer. The presentation of awards will precede the movie.

Tickets are being sold at $4,000 each and are available from Donna Wong at the Caymanas Track Limited Racing Office, Caymanas Park, extension 2114, and Patrice Johnson at the marketing department, 2086. Dress code: lounge suit.

The glittering affair will see major awards presented in the 'Horse of the Year' category, as well champion trainer, champion jockey, champion owner, champion groom, champion breeders. champion apprentice, champion two-year-old, champion sprinter, champion stayer, champion sire and broodmare, most improved rider and most improved trainer.

Triple Crown and Superstakes winner MARK MY WORD should be crowned 'Horse of the Year' by unanimous acclaim.

Highlight of the night's presen-tation will be the coveted None Such award to a person or institution whose lifetime endeavours in the field of Jamaican racing has embodied excellence, innovation, leadership and/or unparalleled achievement.
