Barbados reach challenging 395
POINTE-A-PIERRE, Trinidad, (CMC): Ryan Hinds and Kirk Edwards narrowly missed hundreds to help Barbados post a challenging first-innings total against Trinidad & Tobago (T&T) in the WICB Regional First-Class Championship yesterday.
Hinds hit the top score of 94, and Kirk Edwards gathered 93, as Barbados were dismissed for 395 in their first innings about an hour after tea.
Consistent batting right down the order helped beef-up the Barbadians total - Shamarh Brooks was unbeaten on 61, Kevin Stoute made 34, Tino Best got 31, and Kyle Hope 20.
elegant batting
Chinaman bowler, Dave Moham-med, was the most successful T&T bowler with four wickets for 90 runs from 20.3 overs, Shannon Gabriel captured three for 64 from 20 overs, and Imran Khan snared two for 115 from 35 overs.
T&T, led by 45 not out from Runako Morton, then confidently reached 55 for one at the close on the second day of their first-round match at Guaracara Park.
The Nevis-born Morton stamped his authority with some elegant shots, punishing anything wayward, and struck eight fours from 56 balls.
Lendl Simmons played an uncharacteristic sheet anchor role, and finished with four not out off 35 balls.
T&T lost Justin Guillen, when he fended a short ball from Pedro Collins on to his stumps without scoring.
Earlier, Barbados continued from their overnight 133 for two, and batted themselves into a favourable position, with Hinds and Edwards leading the way, and putting on 88 for the third wicket.
