With five rounds of matches remaining in the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA)/Claro Super League football competition, the race for the title and a chance of advancing to the country's top-flight Premier League is going down to the wire, this after leaders and defending champions Cavalier were held to a nil-all draw by bottom-place team Duhaney Park in Saturday's 17th round.

This was the second match in which Cavalier failed to score, even after the acquisition of the league's second leading scorer, Fabian Nethersole (13 goals), in the January transfer window.

Despite the setback, the David Laylor-coached Cavalier remain leaders of the 12-team table with 38 points, while Duhaney Park (11) remain rooted at the foot of the standings.

Second-placed August Town missed out on the opportunity to assume the lead as they had to come from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw with ninth-placed Bull Bay (16). Horatio Taffe fired Bull Bay into the lead in the 22nd minute, before Gee Daley found a 65th minute equaliser for August Town, to keep them a point adrift the leaders.

Capitalising

University of the West Indies (UWI) capitalised on the slip by the front-running two as they registered a 2-0 win over sixth-placed Rae Town (23). UWI netted through the competition's leading marksman, Anthony Grant (17th minute), his 14th of the season and Owen Hill (88th minute) to move within four points of Cavalier.

Rockfort (29) also won by a two-goal margin as they got the better of eighth-placed Barbican 3-1. Rockfort, who occupy fourth, took an eighth-minute lead through

Audley Hanson, before Deno Schaffe (29th) pulled Barbican (18) level. However, second-half goals from Peter Fowlin (51st) and Twine Winter (74th) saw Rockfort come away comfortable winners.

On 25 points, fifth-placed Santos' miserable run continued as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Constant Spring (16). Glendon Brown (66th) and Nicholas May (72nd) netted for Constant Spring, to see them move out of the relegation zone and up to 10th place. Dasha Stacwell scored Santos' consolation goal in the 88th minute.

Constant Spring were replaced in the drop zone by Real Mona (15), which slipped to 11th following a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Mountain View United. Sheldon James' 15th minute strike was enough to see Mountain View move up a place to seventh with 19 points.
