Jamaica's Under-17 footballers lost 1-0 to Costa Rica at Brancourt yesterday in a warm-up match ahead of next week's start of the CONCACAF Championship in western Jamaica.

The winning goal was scored by John Ruiz in the second minute.

The local lads will play Trinidad and Tobago in their opening match of the tournament next Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Catherine Hall Stadium. The 12-team tournament will kick off a day earlier, with Haiti versus Costa Rica and Cuba opposing the United States.

The competing countries have been divided into four three-team zones for the tournament. Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Guatemala are in Group C.
