THE UWI Usain Bolt track will be in the spotlight for the third week in a row, as it will host the Camperdown Classics today, with several members of the Racers Track Club set to make their first appearance of the season.
The meet, which will start at 8 a.m., is expected to be well supported, as several of the leading high school teams are set to continue their battle royal in what has been a very competitive one so far.
With only Usain Bolt and Jermaine Gonzales the notable absentees from Racers, their team-mates, led by Yohan Blake, who blazed to a personal best of 9.89 seconds last August in London, will lead the charge.
Blake will make his season debut in the men's 400 metres with his other teammates, including Edino Steele, Josef Robertson, Markino Buckley, and Antiguan Daniel Bailey also down to compete.
Female members from Racers will also line up in the 400 metres with the newest members - Shereefa Lloyd and Davita Prendergast - among those listed. Former senior national champion in the event, Rosemarie Whyte, Nadia Cunningham and Schillone Calvert will also compete in the event.
cash prize
Meanwhile, the top high schools' Class One male and female 4x100 metres relay teams will be competing for a cash prize of $100,000, as this will go towards their trip to the Penn Relays in the United States in late April.
With Wolmer's Boys set to compete at the Western Relays today, it should be a fight between Calabar High, Jamaica College and St Jago for the top three places.
Among the girls, Holmwood Technical will start favourites, but Camperdown High could surprise following their good showing so far this season.
