... Triple Crown winner to sprint away with Horse of the Year honours

The 2010 Triple Crown and Superstakes winner MARK MY WORD should be unanimously acclaimed Horse of the Year tonight during the XXII None Such/Horse of the Year Awards ceremony at the Courtleigh Auditorium (formerly Island Life cinema) in New Kingston, starting at 7 p.m.

The highly acclaimed motion picture Secretariat, which was released in the United States last year, will be shown following the presentations.

More awardees

Other awardees already determined by statistics are Omar Walker (champion jockey) for the fourth straight year, Wayne DaCosta (champion trainer) for the sixth consecutive year, Elite Bloodstock Limited of Mark My Word fame (champion owners), Pascal Pennant (champion groom), Doushane Gordon (champion apprentice), HAM Stables Limited (champion breeders), Royal Minister (champion sire) and Miss Chestnut (champion broodmare).

Highlight of the night's awards will be the presentation of the coveted None Such Award to a person or institution whose lifetime endeavours in the field of Jamaican thoroughbred racing has embodied excellence, innovation, leadership and/or unparalleled achievement.

Awards determined by balloting include Horse of the Year, first and second runners-up, champion two-year-old, champion three-year-old, champion sprinter, champion middle-distance performer, champion stayer, most improved trainer and most improved rider.
