 St John's (CMC):

National Security Minister Dr Errol Cort has confirmed that the Canadian-born Assistant Commissioner Jacques Oulette, who presently heads the Criminal Investigations Department, will be leaving the job at the end of this month.

Oulette, one of the two remaining retired members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police currently serving here, has indicated that he is not interested in renewing his contract when it expires on February 28.

"Mr Oulette has indicated his intention to return to Canada to be with his family, so therefore he is not desirous of having his contract renewed," Cort said.

Deputy Commissioner Neal Parker is the other 'Mountie' in the Antigua Police Force.

Last June, Parker was the preferred choice to be Trinidad and Tobago's new police chief but he was later rejected by that country's parliament.
