Bryan quits Jamaica Cricket Association(JCA) post

The Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) is now without a chief executive officer (CEO), following the resignation of Robert Bryan yesterday.

Bryan apparently stepped down during a JCA directors' meeting yesterday at cricket's headquarters here, Sabina Park.

He appeared surprised when asked about the decision via telephone last night, but answered in the affirmative.

"Yes," Bryan said when asked if he had resigned.

However, he refused to speak further on the matter, but promised to say more later.

When contacted by phone, the president of the JCA, Paul Campbell, declined comment on the issue.

"I have no comment," Campbell said. "I will speak to Mr Bryan shortly."

Campbell pointed out that he was not at the meeting and had not yet spoken to Bryan, so it would not have been appropriate for him to comment.

"We had a board meeting today, I had gone out of town so I was not at the meeting," he pointed out.

Bryan was also the CEO of the local organising committee for the ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies in 2007.

He took up the appointment with the JCA after having signed a two-year contract, which took effect on August 4, 2010.

At the time, he had replaced Sri Lanka-born Diyal Fernando, who had served in the position for only four months, but was relieved of duties because he never met the JCA's expectations.

Prior to that, the post had been vacant for an eight-month period, prompted by the resignation of its long-serving CEO, Brian Breese.
