'Tappa' for Bob Marley One Love charity match

Reggae Boyz head coach and one of the most talented footballer to play for Jamaica, Theodore 'Tappa' Whitmore, headlines the list of celebrities who are geared up to participate in this year's staging of the Digicel Bob Marley One Love Charity Football Matches and Celebolympics.

Whitmore, who will feature in the Entertainers vs Masters & Celebrities game, was expected to be out of the island, but personally phoned match organiser Clive 'Busy' Campbell to request an opportunity to participate at the event, which will be staged at Stadium East.

The line-ups, which are now almost confirmed, are complete with a host of celebrities.

These personalities include former Jamaica and West Indies player Jimmy Adams, West Indies and Jamaica legend Courtney Walsh, Jamaica senior team cricket coach Gus Logie, Jah Mikes, Lincoln Taffe, Darren Virtue, Peter Prendergast, Elephant Man, Aidonia, Lukie D, Chris Martin and Twins of Twins.

The opening game will see the sponsors going up against their media counterparts and will feature the likes of Julian Patrick of National Commercial Bank (NCB), Chris Vendreyes of NCB, Donovan White of Digicel, Gareth Geddes of Red Stripe, Nicholas McDavid of Supreme Ventures and Edson Brevett of Reggae Jammin testing their skills against some of the more prominent local media figures.

The celebolympics element of the event will also provide fans with much entertainment, as the corporate sponsors' and promoters' races should be the big fan favourites.

In the female corporate 100 metres, Carlene Edwards of Supreme Ventures will line up against Safia Cooper of Red Stripe, Tshani Jaja of Digicel, Renae Vassell of NCB and Karis-Ann Rhoden of Reggae Jammin. In the male corporate 100m, defending champion Chris Vendreyes of NCB will have to dig deep to fend off the challenges of Julian Patrick, also of NCB, Richard McGhie of Digicel, Oliver Mair of Reggae Jammin, Corey Robinson of The Jamaica Observer and Marvin Thompson of Supreme Ventures. In the promoters' 4 x100m relay, the team from Absinthe will take on Musique, SRS Entertainment, Barcode, Lawless Events and Dream Elite. Activities start at 1 p.m. and fans are encouraged to come out early to benefit from prizes and surprises from sponsors, including Digicel and NCB.
