DOMINICA (CMC): Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said yesterday that the visit of the vice-head of Communist Party of China, Chen Fengxiang, underscores the growing friendly relations between Dominica and China.

"Clearly, the frequency of high-level delegations from China to Dominica is a testimony and a symbol of the great importance which China attaches to its relationship with Dominica," Skerrit said.

Fengxiang, who is visiting a number of Caribbean countries, arrived here for a one-day visit and held talks with Skerrit and other officials of the ruling Dominica Labour Party.

"He is here on a mission to deepen and strengthen the relationship which exists between China and Dominica, and also critically and importantly is the relationship which exists with the Dominica Labour Party and the Communist Party of China," Skerrit said.

The prime minister described the visit of Fengxiang as "successful" adding that discussions had been held on a number of areas, including "the bilateral relations that exist between China and Dominica, and the progress we have made thus far, and also international matters.

"He has reiterated and reinforced and recommitted his government's commitment to Dominica and to Dominica's economic and social advancement, and we reviewed a number of the projects and programmes thus far, and also touched on other areas of further cooperation between Dominica and China," Skerrit said.
