Bolt to run at favoured Ostrava Golden Spike meet

Sprint star Usain Bolt has confirmed he will run at the Golden Spike meeting in Ostrava in May, but is yet to decide which event he will compete in.

The Jamaican, the reigning World and Olympic champion, ran the 300 metres in the Czech city last year.

"Previously, I competed in the 100m, 200m twice and 300m in Ostrava," said the world record holder for the 100 and 200 metres.

"I have not yet decided which event I will run this year. My coach will decide closer to the competition."

The year is a big one for the 24-year-old, who is bidding to repeat as double world champion at the World Championships in Daegu, from August 27 to September 4.

He has already confirmed his attendance at Diamond League meetings in Rome, Oslo, Paris and Monaco, with the Rome meet coming just five days before his Ostrava outing.

Bolt said the meeting in the Czech Republic, part of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Challenge Series, had become one of the favourites on his calendar.

"I love coming back to Ostrava. The organisers are always very welcoming and the crowd is one of the best on the circuit," Bolt said.

"The meet usually has a lot of energy and this helps me run fast. 2011 will be the fifth time I run in the Golden Spike meeting. I have four Golden Spike trophies from winning previous meets and would like to get a fifth on May 31."
