Three dead in plane crash
United States (AP):
Authorities say a small plane that crashed into a hillside near a small Southern California airport yesterday left three people dead.
San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Arden Wiltshire reported that the plane went down about 12:40 p.m. Sunday in a rugged area just off of Interstate 40, about 12 miles from Barstow.
She said three people were confirmed dead but their identities were not immediately available.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said the plane is believed to be a Cessna 210 that was heading from John Wayne Airport in Orange County to Henderson Executive Airport in Nevada.
Wiltshire said the plane burst into flames when it crashed in a rugged area near the Barstow airport that isn't immediately accessible to vehicles.
Barstow is about 90 miles northeast of Los Angeles.
