GABRIELLE'S MEET & GREET

When you are the daughter of a former prime minister, the spotlight finds you sooner or later. But, you also get to meet some very important people on some very special occasions. Little Gabrielle Seaga shared the spotlight with her parents last Wednesday when her father, former Prime Minister Edward Seaga, was installed as the new chancellor of the University of Technology, Jamaica. It all happened at the university's Old Hope Road, St Andrew campus.

ARISTIDE RETURNS

How time flies; Jean Bertrand Aristide was deposed as president of Haiti in 2004 and arrived in Jamaica on March 15 after being exiled on February 29. Along with wife Mildred, they resided in the Lydford community of St Ann.

Their two daughters, Christine and Michelle, were then aged seven and five, respectively, and attended Lydford Park Prep school. The Aristides kept a very low profile except for Good Friday mass at the Catholic church in Ocho Rios. In a Gleaner interview with Michael Anthony Cuffe, Aristide said he spent his days writing.

He avoided the media but, upon his departure, headlines proclaimed: Aristide off to South Africa ... but vows to return. At that time, he told journalists he would eventually travel back to Haiti form South Africa. And he did last week.

Secret mortgage

1. What kind of man takes out a mortgage on the family home without saying a word to anyone? Now that he has expired, the wife and children are likely to be on the streets after they have cleared all the debts. Guess that's a lesson to all spouses. Have that talk and get a good understanding of the financial state of affairs as tomorrow is promised to no one.

Fab wife out!

2. It's cruel the remarks that so-called friends are making about the old man since the fab wife has walked out to start a new phase of her exciting life. They say he got his just desserts for he was ever the philanderer in years gone by. Now the ex must be smiling with St Peter for prayers answered.

Spouse wants in!

3..Let's see who is going to win. The company exec plans to be away on business soon and he is taking his assistant. Well, the spouse is insisting that she wants to go along to do some shopping and replenish old stock. Insiders say the two women can't be in the same space for too long, so what will the exec do?

Seedy UK joints

4. The ailing wife is complaining about her husband's frequent trips to the UK. If she only knew - once he touches down he becomes a new animal and has been spotted at some of the most seedy joints in town.
