Things are heating up right across the country in the Claro/INSPORTS All-Island Community Football Championships, as several parishes played out quarter-final and semi-final ties on Sunday.

In Kingston, Unity scraped a narrow win over Special Unit in their semi-final clash at the Bell-Chung Oval, winning 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 regulation and extra-time deadlock, to earn for themselves a spot in the March 27 parish final against Romantic, which had a more comfortable route.

Romantic, playing against Owa Banks, also at the Bell-Chung Oval, comfortably disposed of their opponents by a 2-0 margin to set up the highly anticipated showdown against Unity at the National Stadium East playing field.

Things are also down to the wire in St Andrew, as Andrews Pen and Crooks Street battled to identical 2-1 victories over Dunrobin and May Lane, respectively, in their double-header at Campion College; and will also face each other at the National Stadium East playing field on March 27.

St Mary's four semi-finalists were also determined following quarter-final action at the Oracabessa Mini Stadium and Eden Park.

Port Maria United were the biggest winners on the day, slamming Ranch Kickers 3-0 in the feature match of the Oracabessa Mini Stadium double-header, this after Cromwell Land's slim 3-2 triumph over Fort Stewart in the curtain-raiser.

At Eden Park, Ricardo Bolton's 65th-minute strike was outshone by goals from Brian Anderson (36th), Sheldon McKoy (52nd) and Kemar Lewis (70th), as Jacks River United overpowered Jacks River FC 3-1 in the local derby, to book a date in the semi-final stage.

Hamstead turned back Long Road 3-2 in the day's other quarter-final, to also secure a spot in the parish's last four.

Three quarter-finals games were played in St Elizabeth, with Balaclava, Appleton and Warminster booking their places in the semi-final phase.

Balaclava were too strong for home team Cheapside, turning back their challenge by a 3-2 margin in their contest. At Lacovia, Appleton got the better of Lewis Town 4-2, while Warminster were close 1-0 winners over Arlington.
