HAITI - Joint mission to maintain presence until final presidential results
PORT-AU-PRINCE (CMC):
The Joint Organisation of American States, Caribbean Community Electoral Observation Mission (JEOM) yesterday said it would maintain its presence in the 11 electoral departments of Haiti until the proclamation of the final results on April 16.
In a statement, JEOM said that its observers have been present in the vote tabulation centre on a 24-hour basis since this phase began on March 21, following the second and final round of the presidential and legislative council elections the previous day.
"The observers are monitoring the new procedures put in place for the processing of the result sheets and the application of criteria for verification to ensure the integrity and transparency of the tabulation process," the JEOM said.
