Saturday, March 26 was very busy on the island's social calendar with one high-profile wedding in St Ann and a fabulous birthday-wedding anniversary party at Liberty Hill Great House. Political insider Saleem Lazarus went off to Florida for the wedding of his sibling, and Suresh Rickhi celebrated his birthday with close family and friends.

Iva Walters Double Celebrations

For those who know the picturesque Liberty Hill Great House in Lime Hall, St Ann, it is always a pleasure to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city to this tranquil hilltop haven. Saturday, March 26 was no different. It was here that Iva Walters and husband Clive chose to mark their 10th wedding anniversary and her 65th birthday with a selected group of friends and family, many of whom had also been their wedding guests.

One of the highlights of the evening was the roasted bull over red-hot logs and complete with the iron lever to rotate it. And guests were eager to take pictures of it as they arrived, some even trying their hand at the lever; they were treated to a taste of the succulent beef for this effort. The menu consisted of fresh garden salad with Kerr's special dressing comprising herbs grown in her garden, rice and peas, curried goat, succulent stewed pork, roast beef and a delicious chocho and carrot salad.

Jennifer Kerr, who owns and operates the property, pulled out all the stops to ensure that everyone had a great time. As the DJ spun the oldies, guests relaxed amid the beautiful plants in the garden, took in the breathtaking view of the shores of St Ann, enjoyed their drinks, toured the property and caught up on the latest current events. Those fortunate enough to sit with the former PM gained his valuable insights into the recent events in neighbouring Haiti and the recent return of the Aristides.
