Female reggae artiste Twiggi recently released her self-produced, 12-track album titled The Sun Shines Through.

With this album she has teamed up with producers Computer Paul of Boot Camp Records and Lion of Judah Sounds.

According to Twiggi, the album contains a mixture of different lyrical content but all the songs are centred on the topics of love, positivity and spiritually.

Among the songs on the album are Everybody Needs God, The Sun Shines Through, Reaching Out To You and You & You Alone.

The album took a year and a half to complete and Twiggi is very pleased with the result.

"I love it and I know listeners will too. If you like music that uplifts you and teaches you positive things about love in general, love for the father and how to love one another this album definitely gives you that," she said.

She highlighted a misconception about her music.

"People might say that my songs have too much message in them and they then classify them as gospel but it is not, it's for all. Anyone can listen to it, from the young child growing into a teenager to the old," she said.

Strong following

She expects the album to do well, especially overseas as she has a strong following in the Florida, Japanese, African and European reggae markets.

The video for the song Reaching Out To You was shot in different locations throughout South Florida and was directed by Peter Gracey of Gracey Films. It has also been enjoying favourable airplay on radio and television stations locally and internationally and has topped charts in South Florida.

collaborations

Twiggi has worked with Penthouse Records and platinum-recording producer Computer Paul before and has also done collaborations with reggae artistes such as Buju Banton and Wayne Wonder.

At the beginning of her musical career she was a back-up singer and has worked with several artistes such as Beres Hammond, Luciano, Lady Saw and Sting.

She is looking forward to upcoming tours she has planned for Australia and Europe.
