Immaculate, Wolmer's top Mayberry meet

Wolmer's Boys and Immaculate Conception were crowned boys and girls champions, respectively, at yesterday's staging of the Mayberry Investments High Schools Swimming Championships, which was held at the National Stadium Pool.

Wolmer's finished atop the standings with 491 points, ahead of Campion College (341), Kingston College (234), Ardenne (132), Hillel (96), St George's College (44), Jamaica College (36) and St Jago (35).

On the girls' side, Immaculate copped the female section with an impressive 530 points, far ahead of Campion College (318), St Andrew (267), Holy Childhood (141), Wolmer's (98), Hillel (51), St Hugh's (46), Montego Bay (24) and The Queen's School (11).

The University of the West Indies captured the Institutions title, after they amassed 192 points, way ahead of second-place Caribbean Maritime Institute (25).

National junior representative Timothy Wynter, of Campion College, was the most outstanding male swimmer.

Competing in the 13-14 age group, Wynter won the 50-metre backstroke in a new meet record of 28.38 seconds.

The previous of record of 30.85 was held by Ramon James of Campion College.

Sidell Williams Wolmer's was second in the 30.61, followed by Jomo Parkes of St Jago.

Wynter returned to capture the boys 200m individual medley in 2:27.18, ahead of the Wolmer's pair of Antoine Young (2:29.64) and Kevaughn Campbell (2:29.98).

Breanna Roman of Campion College won the girls 13-14 200m freestyle in 2:18.26, ahead of the Immaculate pair of Ivana Chang (2:28.84) and Gabriel Hopkins (2:34.70).

Simone Hunter of Immaculate won the girls 17-18 200m freestyle in 2:08.72 ahead of her teammate, Christina Hart (2:14.73), and Rochelle Fearon of Campion (2:42.62).
