The mushrooming Pick-9 was caught by two punters at Caymanas Park last Saturday, each receiving $2.9 million.

The Pick-9 starts anew tomorrow with the guaranteed minimum of $1 million. It will embrace race two to 10, while the first Super-6, which offers no carryover, will be conducted from race one to six, the overlapping Super-6 from five to 10.

We look at the second Super-6 which kicks off with a $450,000- $400,000 claiming race to be contested by 11 starters. After weighing the pros and cons, it should come down to the quartet of BORA BORA, in-form GHOST RAPPER who has won two of his last three races; HE'S A DREAMER and LATIN KING, who enjoys two-turn races.

BORA BORA went down fighting against CHADMAN over 1400 metres on March 26, and with a more active rider aboard in the 2.0kg claiming apprentice Jevvanne Erwin, the five-year-old grey horse from the stables of Delroy Spencer is tipped to go one better.

BORA BORA has been eased a bit in the weights and should win from old rival GHOST RAPPER, who was only half a length behind him in third in the race won by CHADMAN.

deciding the outcome

The stable-companions RIVER GOLD and BALDESSARANI, along with BRIDE TO BE (fit), should decide the outcome of the sixth race over 1100 metres for maiden four-year-olds and up. That shrewd trainer Patrick 'Wacky' Lynch saddles both BALDESSARANI (Dick Cardenas up) and the lightly raced RIVER GOLD (Chris Douglas), who is out for the first time since June of last year.

Despite this, RIVER GOLD strikes me as a better horse than BALDESSARANI, BRIDE TO BE, or for that matter STARMATE, with in-form Wesley Henry aboard, and thus gets the vote.

HERMOSO AMIGO, who won by the proverbial city block on his second outing some weeks ago but missed the 2000 Guineas due to lack of sufficient earnings, looks a budding Derby contender in the making. Hence, this half brother to the 2009 Superstakes winner HOMBRE should have little difficulty in putting away the unbeaten MAAS LAURIE in the seventh race over 1820 metres for non-winners of two three-year-olds. He is trained by the cool veteran, Noel Ennevor.

fight out the finish

Briefly, WAR HERO and ATRAILOFTEARS should fight out the finish of the eighth race over 1500 metres for maiden three-year-olds, with Henry's mount WAR HERO just preferred.

Race nine for the Fontainbleu Trophy (open allowance) over 1500 metres should provide the February 26 King's Plate winner CLASSY PROSPECT with another victory over the same distance.

However, the two horses he beat by 1¹/⁴ lengths that day, the Canadian-bred filly PRICELESS BEAUTY and the American colt BURST OF ENERGY, should make it even closer on slightly better terms, this time around, in a field of 10.

Then, take PASSA PASSA (knocking at the door) over the recent course winner RUN CHARM RUN and SEVEN FOUR SEVEN in the closing Alex's Imports 'Dig Out' Handicap over 1300 metres, to be contested by 16 starters.
