THE EDITOR, Sir:

With all due respect, RM Judith Pusey should immediately recuse herself from the Kern Spencer light-bulb trial so that the slate can be wiped clean, thus making way for a new trial to commence, presided over by a different judge.

Too much bad blood currently exists between RM Pusey and DPP Paula Llewellyn and, as a result, if Kern Spencer is found not guilty when the verdict is announced at some future date in RM Pusey's courtroom, the perception by the public will be that the latter was biased against DPP Llewellyn and her team and biased in favour of Kern Spencer and his legal team.

Judge Pusey ought to step aside - not necessarily because of any bad blood between herself and DPP Llewellyn, but so that justice can not only be done but also be seen to be done.

I am, etc.,
