Unearthing talent, Music Unites hosts concert to benefit needy students
Today, Music Unites Jamaica presents Jazz 'n' More at the auditorium of the School of Music at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts.
The audience is invited to listen for three hours to a variety of great music, presented by entertainers at the top of their respective genres.
Heather 'Brown Sugar' Grant will lead the spectators through the show, featuring outstanding musicians like the internationally acclaimed Jamaican jazz pianist Orville Hammond, renowned vocalist from Dominica Marie-Claire, guitar virtuoso Samuele Vivian from Italy, outstandingly talented steel-pan player from St Vincent Reajhaun Baptiste, and the vibrant Jamaican singer Michael Sean Harris.
Music Unites Jamaica has, for years, given young artistes the opportunity to shine. This performance will also highlight the extraordinary talent of the female vocal force of students at the Edna Manley College's School of Music, such as Vennica Nicholson, Janine J. Khul, Dominique and Princess Tia.
Part proceeds of this event will go towards music scholarships, as it is a mission of Music Unites Jamaica to assist talented young musicians to pursue their dream of a tertiary education.
Tickets are available at the School of Music office and The Novelty Shop in the lobby of The Jamaica Pegasus at $2,000. Student tickets are sold for $1,000 and children under 12 years are invited free of cost.
