Reggae Jammin extends partnership with volleyball

With a few months still to go before the start of the 2011-12 Business House Volleyball League, the event organisers have reason to cheer before a ball is spiked, as title sponsors Reggae Jammin foods have once again confirmed their support.

Now in its seventh year, the main competition, which takes the form of an indoor league - held at the UWI Bowl - is scheduled to get under way on June 5.

However, it will be preceded by two one-day rallies to be held at the same venue and then the Sand Slam Beach Tournament, which will be held at the Barbican Beach in July.

Defending champions Bank of Jamaica (BoJ) will lead seven teams lined up for this year's competition, which will also include former champions Jamaica Defence Force and Jamaica Urban Transit Company Limited. The list is completed by National Water Commission, Guardian Life Limited and Jamaica Cultural Development Commission.

In their third season of sponsoring the event, Reggae Jammin continues to see the physical activity involved in the sport of volleyball as a perfect partnership for the company's line of products.

"We are committed to the development of sports in Jamaica. From time to time mainstream sports like cricket, football and track and field are perceived to garner more attention. Volleyball is one of those underserved activities that deserve maximum support, and Reggae Jammin is committed to this cause," said Oliver Mair, sales and marketing manager, Best Dressed Foods.

"This is our third year is and it has always been exciting. This year we expect no different," he added.

Speaking on behalf of the Jamaica Volleyball Association, Paula-Ann Porter-Jones, a former national player, believes the company's support of the developmental competition is in line with helping the sport to mature.

"Volleyball is a fledgling sport and this league in particular was made when you decided that you wanted to help us grow and to help the players gain the benefits of the active lifestyle that you are supporting across the country," Porter-Jones said.

"We thank you for the vote of the confidence through the financial injection and look forward to your support in years to come," she added.
