Mavado for LIME Fan Zone in Montego Bay

Popular dancehall artiste Mavado will be among those appearing in the LIME 'Zone' at the 40th staging of the LIME Carifta Games scheduled for this weekend at the Montego Bay Catherine Hall Sports Complex in the Second City.

Mavado, who enjoys widespread popularity across the Caribbean, will take to the stage on day two of the Games to perform for the hundreds of athletes and track and field fans who will be attending the Games.

The 'LIME Zone', an all-inclusive party area, will also feature appearances by dancehall artiste Shane-O and some of Jamaica's hottest disc jockeys, including ZJ Elektra, ZJ Liquid and Crazy Chris. The LIME Zone will also be the scene of several sporting competitions for fans with spectacular prizes and giveaways from LIME.

"This is the first year that the Carifta Games will feature a fun zone specially designed to showcase the hospitality of the region and also to highlight Jamaican entertainment," said LIME's regional vice-president, marketing and corporate communications, Grace Silvera.

"The Zone will undoubtedly be one of the most memorable aspects of the 2011 Carifta Games and we hope this will start a new trend of using this important athletics event to highlight the best aspects of our Caribbean culture," she added.

Tickets for the Zone are available at LIME Carlton, LIME - Bargain Mall (Clock Tower, Half-Way Tree), LIME - New Kingston, LIME - Fairview, LIME - Bay West Shopping Complex and LIME Super J (Church Street, Montego Bay). Admission for each day is $2,000, with a special season band available for $5,000.

In March, title sponsor LIME announced a partnership with the North America Central America & Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC) for the prestigious games and athletes, coaches, officials and supporters from more than 20 countries are in Montego Bay for the prestigious meet.

The 2011 LIME Carifta Games will see more than 150 events including sprints, distance races, relays and field events. The local communications company will be providing coverage of the Games via its LIME mobile TV service and online at www.lime.com.
