Online feedback

Below are excerpted comments from online readers to The Sunday Gleaner lead story 'Still no rent'.

So, the Port Authority cannot collect a paltry J$20,000 per month in rent from this squatter. I wonder if, in the public interest, they will allow anyone who is willing and able to pay the rent to also get it at the same rate.

After all, my J$20,000 is just as good as his (or the promise of getting his, since he has yet to pay), is it not?

What the hell is going on in Jamaica? Why is a minister acting like he is some sort of king and can't be questioned about non-payment of rent? These politicians all need to be kicked out!

I am at a loss for words. How come these people do whatever they please, without any consequence? I have never seen such things as are happening in Jamaica today; and everybody is so quiet.

The media pass it off as behaviour of the gangs. The JLP thinks it is all right, and the PNP is afraid because it will be put down to politicking. And this is the Government which came to power based on accusations of corruption by the PNP.

It cannot continue like this.

It's so shameful when you have a minister not living up to his responsibility in not paying his rent. It's about time that all the perks these politicians are getting be taken away.

We cannot have 'backra master' living in luxury while most of the population can barely make ends meet.

This is life on the 'Animal Farm'. Napoleon, oops, Mike Henry, you should be ashamed of yourself.

George Orwell, some books last forever! This is the change we voted for.
