Roseau (CMC):

A former regional trade unionist is against plans to have Sundays designated as a normal working day in Dominica.

Kertist Augustus, the secretary treasurer of the Waterfront and Allied Workers Union, who also served as an executive member of the regional Caribbean Congress of Labour, said that young workers, in particular, should publicly express their opposition to the plan.

"We must understand what is happening in Dominica today given the posture of the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce," he said.

"Given this question of Sunday work, this is something that workers must start reacting to. In our lives, there should be one day of rest, and preferably the Sunday, so that we could give thanks and praises and blessings to Almighty father, our God."
