Taylor shines, but Pune lose
CHENNAI, India (CMC):
West Indies fast bowler Jerome Taylor snatched a three-wicket haul for Pune Warriors, but could not prevent Chennai Super Kings from carving out a 25-run victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday.
Taylor, conspicuously missing from the West Indies side for the ongoing one-day international series against Pakistan, finished with impressive figures of three for 30 from his quota of four overs, as Chennai compiled 142 for six from their 20 overs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Australian Mike Hussey blasted 61 from 48 balls with six fours and a six before he holed out to long on, to give Taylor his first wicket.
Taylor picked up his second wicket two balls later, when Albie Morkel gave a simple catch to Jesse Ryder at deep cover.
The right-armer Taylor, who has not played for West Indies in almost a year, claimed his final wicket off the last delivery of the innings, as Srikkanth Anirudha top edged a bouncer to the wicketkeeper.
In reply, Pune Warriors could only gather a disappointing 117 for nine with fast bowler Morkel snaring three for 29 and left-armer Doug Bollinger (2-20) and off-spinner Ravi Ashwin (2-19) finishing with two wickets apiece.
