Cop on rape charge

PORT-OF-SPAIN (CMC):
A police sergeant is due to reappear in court on June 17 to answer charges of having sexual intercourse with a teenage girl without her consent last month.
Sergeant Dane Sarzano was not called upon to plead when he appeared before Magistrate Alicia Chankar.
He is accused of having sex with the girl on April 3. He was granted TT$300,000 (US$50,000) bail and warned not to have any contact with the complainant.
The police officer has been told by the court that he must report to the San Fernando Police Station every Thursday.
