As chairman of the Professional Football Association of Jamaica (PFAJ), along with the Premier League Club's Association (PLCA), congratulations to the Tivoli Gardens Football family - its management, staff, players and supporters - for its continued success in winning the 2010/11 Digicel Premier League.

The belief that you can, coupled with diligent preparation, has once again proven that success is achieved through hard work and determination as was proven throughout and, in particular, on the final day of the competition.

The title was decided in what could be considered, for want of a better term, a 'pressure cooker' situation, as Tivoli Gardens were pressed but did not cave in.

And, if there was any chance of there being crowned two victors for the day and for the competition on a whole, Boys' Town FC deserve all the praises they have received, and more for the professional manner in which they took the competition to Tivoli Gardens - down to the wire. It was a delight for all.

wonderful closing

Congratulations to the coaches - Admiral Bailey for keeping the composure of his squad despite the mounting pressure; and Andrew Price, the all and everything for his team, who weathered the storm and gave his all in motivating his charges to keep up the fight that gave such a wonderful closing for the season.

In no doubt one of the most intense rivalries seen in the league for a very long while, the supporters of the Boys' Town FC and Tivoli Gardens FC played their part perfectly, as inside the capacity-filled Edward Seaga Sports Complex, and under such an emotional and thrilling environment, they allowed all rivalry to be played out on the field - totally incident free.

Congratulations too for all teams who look to rebuild for the next Premier League season, and our sympathies with those who, despite all their efforts and intentions, will not be with us then.

As chairman, I must state that overall the 2010/11 league has been a very exciting season, with both top- and lower- table teams bringing almost unheard of dimensions to the competition.
