Sara Lawrence to give Mother's Day talk
The newly established Young Mummy Diaries (YMD) for Moms has collaborated with Bookophilia to host what is expected to be an invigorating Mother's Day soirée on Saturday.
The free event, dubbed 'Mummy Mingle', will be held at Bookophilia's bookstore-café spot, at 92 Hope Road, Kingston 6, under the theme 'What They Don't Tell You About Being a Mom'.
Miss Jamaica World 2006, Sara Lawrence, will be the guest host at the event.
Mummy Mingle, co-sponsored by Huggies, is the launch of a support group for mothers, conceptualised by business executive and mother Tamiann Young.
Fuelled by her passion to empower, educate and support young women who have the lifelong task of being a mother, Young's objective is to provide a channel to the resources mothers need to balance their lives. "As a young mother of three children, I know first-hand what the many challenges can be like for a mother trying to balance work and home and it was actually out of my own frustrations and many talks to other mummies that I realised the beauty of sharing and mingling with other mothers. I am very excited about this event, and really want to hear what Sara has to share," smiled Young.
The mingle will also serve as a membership drive for the Mummy Club. All mothers and expectant mothers are invited to attend and mummies can expect an evening of cocktails christened 'Mumtinis', hors d'oeuvres, social activities, prizes and surprises, as well as an inspirational chat with guest speaker Sara Lawrence.
"It is my pleasure to not only be affiliated with but play an integral role in this very well-needed initiative. Being a young mother myself, I think it is imperative that we reach out and support each other, so we can function optimally in our most important job in this life, nurturing Jamaica's next generation. I'm looking forward to just talking frankly about the things you would never read in books, and learn from each other. I am so excited about this. Let's share on Saturday, one proud mother to the next," said Lawrence.
Bookophilia, known for its enticing array of books, will be showcasing a special series for the mothers.
