Palace release Davis
LONDON, England (CMC):
Jamaican defender Claude Davis will be in search of a new club after being released by Crystal Palace Monday.
The 32-year-old was one of three players, including Pablo Counago and Gavin Mahon, to be let go following the end of the English Championship division last Saturday, when Palace finished 20th.
Manager Dougie Freedman said he was beginning to reorganise his squad with next season in mind.
"We will have a sit-down this week where we will discuss what the finances are in terms of who I can keep, who I can buy and contract situations," Freedman said.
Davis was signed by then Palace manager Neil Warnock from Derby County in 2009 on a two-year contract, but is now surplus to requirements and will not be offered a new deal.
