Save my road, Mike!

JDIP has been touted as the "saviour to Jamaica's infrastructure". But will it save your road? Send us photos of your pothole-riddled road and ask Works Minister Mike Henry if yours will be saved, or if you'll have to wait on your hibernating parish council. Email photos and letters to letters@gleanerjm.com, or mail to Save My Road, Mike!, The Gleaner Company, 7 North Street, Kingston.

Arlington

We, the residents of Arlington in southwest St Elizabeth, are appealing to the powers that be for help to fix a half-mile of road which is under the jurisdiction of the parish council.

The roads on the western section of the district are always fixed, while that on the eastern end is never repaired.

Right now, about one chain of the eastern section is under water. Children can't go to school, the elderly can't get to the doctor, and people working in Black River are having a very hard time. If they do get out, they have to go through barbed wire. We are marooned.

We have a councillor and an MP, but only God knows what purpose they serve.

We are appealing to Works Minister Mike Henry to come and see the condition. We need help.

Sunset Blvd

I would like to bring to your attention Sunset Boulevard in Norbrook, St Andrew, which has been in a deplorable condition for the last several years.

Over the years, residents have been effecting makeshift repairs, using cement to fill the numerous potholes that have developed on the road. Residents would be very grateful if Works Minister Mike Henry could have the road repaired through the JDIP initiative.

We would be very appreciative if the repairs could be done prior to the start of the rainy season.
