After exams comes 'Sweet Escape'
Hasani Walters, Gleaner Writer
Exam time is upon students at various levels of the education system. For many, it means sleepless nights of gruesome studying and days of 'swatting', leading up to the nerve-racking day of an examination, when recollection of knowledge is put to the test.
After it is all over, there is the need for escape, to release and celebrate in some form. The perfect way for those who have reached the required age to do so, and start the summer, seems to be by enjoying a 'Sweet Escape'. It's dubbed the summer's kick-off party and geared towards allowing young people the chance to escape and lose themselves in an environment conducive to relaxation and enjoyment after weeks of gruelling examinations.
Now heading towards its third staging, 'Sweet Escape' has managed to generate a buzz and, on party night, the organisers hope to once again pull their target market from of their homes and into the venue for a good time. The loyal patronage can be attributed to the appropriate branding, timing and promotion of the event to the target market.
great promotional team
Promoter Kwasi Henry of Kreative Concepts and Jamrock Entertainment Management told The Gleaner, "well, when the word 'sweet' comes to mind, one automatically think teens and young adults, due to the fact that they crave it more than older folks. 'Escape', on the other hand, speaks for itself, as we are inviting all to release the tension and stress they have been through during May to June. So, definitely strategically speaking this was our target market. Additionally, this target market is easily maintained due to the fact that we have a great promotional team that comprises members of our target demography."
Henry promises an entertaining event which will be nothing short of exciting, as the name 'Sweet Escape' already gets one in the frame of mind that the 'number-2 pencil days' are over - for now - and summer has begun. He boasted that once one sets foot on the lawns of 15 West King's House Road, St Andrew, on June 10, they will immediately be ready to have fun in a breathtaking setting. This, Henry said, can be credited to the promoters' advanced planning.
"We'll offer patrons the best experience to kick off their summer. All exams will be over by that time, hence 'Sweet Escape' will be the first party for the summer season, and with a great line-up, high-energy entertainment supported by hassle-free bar access from four mega bars, good friends and endless amenities. That provides the perfect mix for the ultimate summer kick-off party," said Henry.
Music will be provided by four top deejays and there will be free body piercings for female patrons all night as well as BlackBerry giveaways.
