Heartless tax hunt?
We have a saying in Jamaica, 'you must count your cost before you mount your horse'. Many are advocating the filing of tax returns by everyone, including the little old lady or old man who sells a few things by the wayside, and doesn't earn anything near subsistence level.
Have the advocates ever considered the cost of creating and maintaining such a system which, ultimately, must result in scarce and good money chasing those who are either penniless or virtually so?
Come on, let them display some God-given intelligence and stop talking nonsense.

Boycott Dom Rep goods
If Dom Rep could be so arrogant that not even one administrator could say anything, we ought to create complete boycott of the products like PVC pipes, steel, candy and milk products that come to our shores with out any red tape.
DR has a very sinister trade clause that does not allow Jamaica to export to that country. Why should we allow any of their products at all?

Artefacts on scrap heaps of history
Just a word on the 'Stolen heritage' piece. It is a sad commentary when someone would use something as so sacred to our nation and use it for the scrap-metal trade.
What has Jamaica gone to? These things are relics, they mean something. They are priceless, in a sense. Where has the appreciation gone? Sure, it isn't dancehall - as that is what culture is reduced to - but, my God, there is a limit, and I say it stops here.

Hilarious, thoughtful piece on us imperialism
Thoroughly enjoyed Gordon Robinson's piece 'In cold blood', published two Sundays. Haven't laughed so much for a long time. It was the perfect mix of humour and serious critique.
Loved the metaphors and the measured invocation of American pop culture. The line about 'Trigger' was precious. Never knew that I could find someone in Jamaica who saw the US in similar eyes. It was a gem.
