Jamaica's Bridgmohan boots home five at Churchill Downs

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (CMC):
Jamaican jockey Shaun Bridgmohan won an amazing five races on Sunday's 10-race card, to rocket to the top of the standings at Churchill Downs.
The 31-year-old, who finished with Santiva in the recent Kentucky Derby, won race three, four, five, six and eight as he leapfrogged his counterparts into the lead with 11 wins.
His performance, however, was just short of his personal best. Previously, he has twice won six races on a day's card - 13 years ago at Fair Grounds when he was voted top apprentice, and more recently, four years ago at the same New Orleans oval.
On Sunday, he kicked off his success in race three when he steered the 3-1 bet Cash Refund to victory by a length over the three-year-olds and upward, going six furlongs.
Bridgmohan duelled for the lead with the bay gelding from the break before repelling a challenge from Riley Tucker deep in the stretch.
He produced a similar ride with the favourite Dubai's Connection in race four over the same distance, attacking pacesetter Loves to Fly before taking over the lead after the quarter-mile and getting home by three-quarter lengths.
