We, the citizens of Barrington Drive, Rosedale Drive and Bellemar Place, are using this medium to plead with Mike Henry, minister of transport and works, to effect repairs to these roads, which have been neglected for more than 20 years.

These roads are located off Roehampton Drive near to Meadowbrook Avenue.

If you drive on any of these, you would feel ashamed at the prolonged neglect.

Our councillor, Mr Vernon McIntosh, does not live in our area, therefore he has no need to see them. Mr Derrick Smith has been ill for a long time, but it was brought to his attention on numerous occasions.

So we have no recourse but to plead with you personally to use your good office and place our roads on the JDIP repair schedule.

We had written the mayor to seek his intervention, but only the outlying roads, Lydia Drive (which had only one small pothole) and Roehampton Drive were repaired. The inner roads were completely ignored!

We eagerly anticipate positive action.

Save my road, Mike!

JDIP has been touted as the "saviour to Jamaica's infrastructure". But will it save your road? Send us photos of your pothole-riddled road and ask Works Minister Mike Henry if yours will be saved, or if you'll have to wait on your hibernating parish council. Email photos and letters to letters@gleanerjm.com, or mail to Save My Road, Mike!, The Gleaner Company, 7 North Street, Kingston.
