The holiday weekend was busy on the social scene.

Tuesday talk

Costly, poor service

1. There are strong indications that the spotlight needs to shine on privately run retirement homes. Relatives complain that the service is costly and often leaves much to be desired.

Undiplomatic?

2. Did the Jamaican foreign ministry use the word "execute" in its statement after the takedown of Osamabin Laden? Suchundiplomatic language, we believe!

Down the hill

3. Many patrons will be missing their favourite spa soon as word spreads of the impending closure. It seems the high-profile clients are not beaming up the hill as often as they used to.

Watch out!

4. So you are out socialising and you see a man observing you. It may not be a prelude to a love connection. Judging from recent events, the observer may simply be checking out your jewellery, as he plans to attack later on. So, be on your guard.
