TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (AP):

Police in Honduras say gunmen opened fire on the manager of a daily newspaper Monday night as he was driving home in the Central American country's capital.

Police say 70-year-old Manuel Acosta was shot six times and his car had more than 30 bullet holes. Acosta was able to drive home and his family took him to a hospital.

The newspaper La Tribuna says Acosta is in stable condition.

The owner of a Honduras television station was shot to death last week. He was the 13th news media worker slain in Honduras over the past 18 months.
