STETHS chasing historic sweep

St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) will seek to keep alive their hopes of making a historic clean sweep of all cricket titles on offer this season, when they host Cross Keys in the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/First Global Financial Services under-16 semi-final, at their school grounds in Santa Cruz today.

The other semi-final, to be hosted in Mandeville, pits the defending champions BB Coke of Junction, St Elizabeth, against Manchester High.

The games will be a contest of maximum 50 overs per side, with ISSA earmarking a reserved day, tomorrow, to ensure a result.

STETHS have already won the senior knockout, the league Headley Cup, the all-island Spalding Cup and are still in the running for the under-14 title.

Interestingly, all four semi-finalists hail from the neighbouring parishes of Manchester and St Elizabeth. BB Coke and STETHS played in the same preliminary zone, with STETHS getting the better of that one-game, compiling 110 before limiting the champions to 95.

Manchester and first-time semi-finalists, Cross Keys, competed in the same preliminary group, but their one-off game was drawn. Cross Keys, who won that zone, were bowled out for 55 and Manchester were 33 for one when rain had the final say.
