NOTEWORTHY

Published:Monday | May 30, 2011 | 12:00 AM

Below is excerpted feedback from readers of www.jamaica-gleaner.com to yesterday's lead story, 'I'm no spy'.

We laud Mr Phillips

Dr Phillips, well-thinking people do not think you are a spy. We appreciate you for what you have done, and I implore you to ignore these invidious remarks orchestrated by the people who feel like good living can only be achieved by illegal activities. We laud you and we anxiously await your time to lead this country.

Betrayed!

I am sorry, but for someone to secretly sign away the rights of his fellow countrymen is a sign that he is working with the other side. How can Jamaicans trust Peter Phillips again?

Clear sign of a spy

Would Phillips admit he was working as a spy on behalf of the US? Only a fool would think he would. Coalescing with a foreign power unbeknown to your own government, of which you are a high-ranking member, is a classic definition of being a spy. If the US Secretary of Defence was working with the Chinese without the knowledge of the president, he would be charged with treason.

- Ramon Castro

You did good

Dr Phillips should give this charge the contempt it deserves by not even responding to it. If Dr Phillips collaborated with the US, it has saved hundreds of lives.

If ensuring that criminality is eradicated from our shores is equated to being in bed with the US, then more power to it.

Thank you, Dr Phillips. May God bless you and keep you. We love you for loosening the stranglehold around our necks.

- Anthony Foster

Secrets still hidden

Mr Phillips still needs to come clean about how he has been a succesful MP of a known garrison for so long. All his fancy arguments are much in contravention of that. There's no way he can be publicly declaring patriotism when his house is built on troubled waters.

A turn of events

It is very interesting that at the height of the Cold War, the PNP branded Eddie Seaga an agent of the CIA. The Gleaner also was a target of the PNP and its communist agenda. Now the former 'enemies' have joined forces to dislodge the JLP. All the best in your quest for political power. The same knife that sticks sheep, sticks goat.
